🔥Hot Take 🔥: Can Dove deodorant really cause cysts? Let’s break down the science – and the hype. Lots of people online swap stories, but the clinical evidence just isn’t there for this one!
🎯 Reality Check: Sketchy 🚩
📝 Why: While plenty of people chat about experiencing cysts after using deodorants, there’s no strong medical evidence that single brands like Dove, or “spray on” formulas, directly cause cysts (aka boils, or hidradenitis suppurativa). The NHS says underarm lumps or cysts can have MANY causes: ingrown hairs, blocked sweat glands, infections, or skin conditions like HS. According to Cleveland Clinic experts: “Antiperspirants may cause irritation for some people, but there isn’t proof they directly cause cysts” (Cleveland Clinic, 2024). Most dermatology guidelines don’t list “Dove spray” as a culprit.
